PhD Writing Skills Workshops: This popular series of workshops has been specially designed to support the writing development of higher research degree candidates at Massey University. The workshops are presented and facilitated by learning advisors from the Centre for Learner Success who are experienced in supporting doctoral students through each stage of their writing process. In addition, there is a session facilitated by Massey University’s librarians that covers how to create and structure long documents, as well as tips on using Endnote.

PhD Writing Skills Workshops - Writing results & discussion chapters of quantitative research-based theses In-Person

This workshop takes a closer look at quantitative thesis writing styles for results and discussion chapters, including:

  • Overall chapter structure
  • Commenting on numerical data in tables and figures, and 
  • How to form a critical discussion of results in relation to hypotheses and existing research

Not a PhD student? That’s okay. We welcome all students, especially Masters and other postgraduates who are seeking advice and support regarding academic writing standards.

Covid19 alert levels: The majority of these workshops are planned to be held in the VLT rooms on each campus. However, if the Covid19 alert levels change, these workshops will be moved to Zoom. Students will be notified via the LibCal Event Calendar webpage and the Doctoral Stream page.
